TEST DRIVE MEME #1

No gimmicky dinosaur setup this time round, since the game is actually rolling now! If you've got a character you want to try out in this setting, make a thread with them on here, and if you don't, see if you can tag other people with your characters.

Test drive threads can be anything you like, in-person or online, just make it clear which one your thread is when you start it. Make sure to put the name of the character and what canon they're from in the subject, so people know who they are and where they come from.

Can I use test drive threads as samples for my app?
Indeed you may, fair stranger

Can I decide a test drive thread is game canon?
Heck yeah you can, provided the person you threaded it with is cool with that too!

He hesitates for a moment, as if sizing up the thief in return. He starts with a simple question.

"Do you know the location of the Trailblazer's hideout, and if not, would you be able to find it?"

How disappointing. Well, you can't help it.

"Don't tempt me," Nivata growls. It's not a joke, either; the shadowy cloud drifts back and forth ominously under her command. "In case you didn't know, following a stranger home in the dark is normally considered a threat."

"I hold no ill will against you," he says. "I'm simply trying to learn the makeup of this city. I have no interest in turning this into a fight."

(sorry this may end up a very short thread!)

"You should have thought of that earlier," Nivata tells the troll bluntly. "I'd start backing away if I were you." Her shadow cloud slowly drifts toward him, six glowing blue eyes flaring in threat.

That warrants an eyebrow raise and Gaius pauses, almost like he's trying to pick his words carefully. You never knew how these types would react to certain things.

He snorts and shrugs. "I got my ways," he starts, putting the stick back in his mouth to fiddle with it between his teeth. "But I don't kill nobody. If you want an assassin, I know a guy, but there's no blood on these hands."

"That won't be necessary," he replies, not at all surprised. "All I require is the location and access to the building. Keys, alternative entrances, whatever you can find. Sound more reasonable?"

[personal profile] candycrime 2014-02-26 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
That causes him to pause. On the one hand, if this guy was going to pay him the right price, he'd do it no questions asked. But on the other? The Trailblazers were kids. Who knows what this creep wanted to do with a bunch of kids. He might be a thief, but he's not a monster.

"Hm, gonna need a little more info than that, since I take stuff, not find it. Why d'you want in?"

[a post to the Watch from a recently-created account]

I apologize if this is a... strange question, but, purely out of curiosity, would anybody happen to know of any recent... fluctuations in the space-time continuum?
magicgasm: (the affairs of wizards)

[personal profile] magicgasm 2014-03-02 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
you're going to have to be more specific. spacial fluctuations are like a dime a dozen these days.

Let's say... a temporal rift, I would assume. Within the past month or so?

I hope that narrows it down; if not, I'm not sure what to think anymore.
magicgasm: (yeah...uh...huh...)

[personal profile] magicgasm 2014-03-03 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
well that depends: what did it do? probably NOT the dinosaur one, right.
hunter2_0: (wait what)

[personal profile] hunter2_0 2014-03-03 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, no, not that one.

...To be entirely honest, I, myself, seem to have been removed from my intended time period. So far, I haven't found evidence that anyone else was affected, but I believe the rift to have originated from my own time, which... I suppose may make trying to track it difficult.

I'm afraid I am not especially knowledgeable when it comes to temporal anomalies.
magicgasm: (yeah...uh...huh...)

[personal profile] magicgasm 2014-03-03 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
oh that's not good. hmmm.

how far removed do you think you are? first off, we need to determine whether you're from the actual future or past of this timeline or if you're from an offshoot dimension.

i'm guessing you're from earth?
hunter2_0: (wait what)

[personal profile] hunter2_0 2014-03-03 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
That is correct.

If I had to guess I would say that, assuming that the timeline is the same, this would probably be the past - or, my time is the future? The period of time from which I originate occurs after the one in which we are currently communicating.
magicgasm: (the affairs of wizards)

[personal profile] magicgasm 2014-03-03 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
ok cool.

what's the stardate?
hunter2_0: (wait what)

[personal profile] hunter2_0 2014-03-03 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
...I'm afraid that I don't recognize that term. Which, I would assume, does not bode well.

sorry i was just making a star trek joke i couldn't help myself.

what year was it? any notable technological schisms since around 2000 AD?
hunter2_0: (not a robot)

[personal profile] hunter2_0 2014-03-08 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
2357, I believe? As for 'technological schisms' - most people have actually been a bit wary of advanced technology for the past ten years or so, mainly thanks to... well, to be blunt, a force of extremely violent rogue police drones. All of which were subsequently destroyed.
magicgasm: (stargasm)

[personal profile] magicgasm 2014-03-10 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
ah so, evil robot army. a classic.

it's 2014 right now for the record so you're out by probably 300 and some years. sorry, that's a bit of a snafu.
hunter2_0: (wait what)

[personal profile] hunter2_0 2014-03-10 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Dammit. Should I just... assume at this point that there is no 'convenient' way out of this mess?
magicgasm: (yeah...uh...huh...)

[personal profile] magicgasm 2014-03-10 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
it really depends on where you're coming from. if you are from literally our future, then it might not be possible to get back at all, because your presence here itself could have caused the dimensional timeline to splinter.

if it was already a splinter timeline...well you have to figure out which timeline and find a away to get there without getting lost in the fabric of space time. so not really convenient, no.
hunter2_0: (wait what)

[personal profile] hunter2_0 2014-03-10 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
DAMMIT. Okay. I... suppose I'll just have to hang around until... something. Crap.

Thank you for your time, then.
magicgasm: (trust me)

[personal profile] magicgasm 2014-03-10 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
i'll try looking into it, see if you left any dimensional rifts open.

i'll get back to you on this account if I find anything.

It has been a handful of perigrees since Disciple had woken up. Woken up to a planet and time not her own, woken up to a place that was beyond imagination. She did not belong here in all senses of the phrase, but she was trying to make do, for it was all she had.

Yet that was easier said than done. Everyone she knew must have long since died and been left as food for wild animals. Everything about this world was disorienting and other. No matter how much she read she never felt like she knew enough and for the first time, perhaps ever, she found it difficult to motivate herself to pick up the texts she was given and chug on.

It was this inability to continue reading that had finally gotten her out of the tiny, secluded apartment she had been given. Reading could only do so much, especially when you had no foundation with which to absorb all the information contained within books. She thought perhaps if she experienced this world a little it would all become easier and while the fresh air had been nice she just couldn't bring herself to approach people as she had once been able to do so easily.

Aimless wandering had eventually brought her to a park, and to a wooden bench where she took her seat. There she remained, watching people pass by until the sun finally began to descend--a reminder that even her sleeping patterns had been turned upside down. She probably ought to return home now, but still she remained where she was.
