PLAID JACK CLARITY
Jack was first introduced to wizardly when he accidentally transformed one of his roomate buddies into a demon by being careless with an ancient magical tome. He used said tome to learn magic in the hopes of restoring her human body, but he only really came into his true power as a mage when he ended up being the sole survivor of a small magical apocalypse - a more ancient, unscrupulous mage tricked a large number of promising young practitioners into attuning themself to his astral plane pocket dimension, which he eventually used to suck all their souls out to add to his own power. Jack was saved by his magical tome, but subsequently killed by the previously mentioned, now totally OP evil wizard. Thankfully, this just resulted in Jack spiritually ascending and becoming a full blown wizard, his magical totem ending up being the pattern of "plaid and intersecting lines." He used this gimmick to banish the evil wizard to several different hell dimensions, and in doing so, freed the souls of the young wizards, but unfortunately was unable to do anything but let them carry on to the afterlife.

Needless to say, he has some issues pertaining to seeing almost an entire generation of wizards wiped out at once. Also about the fact that he ended up having to banish his demon friend to another dimension a swell, once she turned evil. Basically Jack's life is just a lot of banishing people to other places, and at this point his feats have resulted in him becoming the most recent Sorcerer Supreme, even though leadership has never really been his bag and he is more inclined to just be buddy buddy with everyone.

YOU MAY HAVE HEARD OF THIS CHARACTER IF: You are in the Enclave, because he is the Sorcerer Supreme/king wizard around there. You may also know of him from posting around on the network with a casualness that belies his status, and for doing children's magic shows in various parks around Los Angeles. Also he apparently is running a D&D campaign for super heroes...
YOU MAY KNOW THIS CHARACTER IF: You are in the Enclave. You are magical. You have gone to his wizard shows. You play in his D&D game. If you chat it up on the Watch a lot. Though if you met him through the Watch you might not even realize he's the Sorcerer Supreme. He's just that Plaid Jack guy.
PLANS & IDEAS FOR THIS CHARACTER: HE IS RUNNING A D&D CAMPAIGN...YOU CAN PRETEND TO BE A WIZARD IN THE KING WIZARD'S GAME. WOW. Wow. Besides that I don't know, Jack just kind of hangs out, but he is also inclined to help out people just because they ask.
THINGS YOU'D PREFER TO AVOID: Nooot reallllyy though romance is sort of unlikely just because Jack is Jack.
ANYTHING ELSE: Characters not realizing who he is in the magical world is totally reasonable because Jack doesn't really act like the Sorcerer Supreme. He's sort of self conscious about that.

MAGDAL LEIJON / THE DISCIPLE
2000 years ago was part of a revolution on Alternia to try and spread the ideals of love, compassion, and equality. Turned into an outright rebellion which was eventually destroyed. Was the sole escapee of her core group and began to pick up the pieces only to be put into a 2000 year sleep by people who were worried about permanently losing their last symbol. Oops.
YOU MAY HAVE HEARD OF THIS CHARACTER IF: Your character could have heard of someone who went by the title of The Disciple roughly 2000 years ago if they are a) incredibly invested in Alternian history and b) can actually get a hold of accurate texts and not just the propaganda you find in most Alternian 'history' books.

Though there is no way this young looking thing could be the same one, right? Right. If your character does fill the two aforementioned criteria, or somehow came across some accurate history books (or even her own writing) they will know she was part of a rebellion on Alternia to try and bring forth ideas of compassion and equality.

Outside of that it's possible for them to have heard of her if they have connections with the Sufferist group.
YOU MAY KNOW THIS CHARACTER IF: Unless they belong to the Sufferist group in some one, unlikely at this point. I just got in with her yesterday and she's mostly been keeping to herself and trying to learn the language/history of Earth.
PLANS & IDEAS FOR THIS CHARACTER: Nothing definite yet, really. So I'm willing to get her involved elsewhere, if someone like her is needed. She could really use some cheery people though, she's in a tough spot.
THINGS YOU'D PREFER TO AVOID: Eh. Not much really bothers me. No death or permanent injury at this point obv but throw whatever you'd like at me.
ANYTHING ELSE: Berp.

SIGNLESS, THE SUFFERER
Signless is essentially Troll Jesus, having inadvertently spawned a religion based upon a foundation of compassion and kindness on Alternia about two thousand years ago, and triggering and uprising against the tyrannical upper classes. Unfortunately, most of his movement was quashed and he was brutally tortured and executed. He spent the next 2000 years being super dead - an angry ghost wandering the ether and stuff.

He doesn't remember most of the ghost stuff though because recently the Empire decided to clone him and summon back his soul in an attempt to use his angry, brainwashed self as a means to ruin the Sufferist movement - the evolution of his religion from thousands of years back. Though he's still in space at the moment, he is being sent to Earth to torment and kill KARKAT VANTAS, his descendant, and supposedly his prophecized second coming. He has the secondary objective of weakening the Earth's defenses for a potential invasion.

He's super angry and destructive at the moment because of the way he died and what amounts to brainwashing.

YOU MAY HAVE HEARD OF THIS CHARACTER IF: If you a troll that knows anything about Sufferism, if you are someone in CONDOR who is allies with the Sufferists, if you are a Sufferists, if you are Karkat, if you've read the troll bible somehow, if you are a dark wizard.
YOU MAY KNOW THIS CHARACTER IF: You were alive on Alternia 2000 years ago. Um.
PLANS & IDEAS FOR THIS CHARACTER: The Sufferer is starting out as a villain, though he will eventually stop being brainwashed and quit because he's actually a really good guy beneath it all. But for the moment he is hunting down Karkat to torment and execute him in the most public way possible, and also fuck up the Earth's defenses in any way he can. He's seeking out temporary allies and information. Also he has empathy based psionic powers, so he can use that to fuck with people.
THINGS YOU'D PREFER TO AVOID: Nothing really.
ANYTHING ELSE: He does actually speak English.

I would enjoy having our Test Drive thread with these two be canon! Jack is pretty zen and friendly, and also generally just helpful, so he'd probably be good for her to have around.

CELESTIA
Celestia is the sun-themed queen of Equestria, a hidden island in the Pacific that's really big on magic, friendship and horses, and which was largely unknown to the outside world until Celestia's sister Princess Luna tried to plunge the world into eternal night in 1964. Celestia was part of the original Alpha Force team formed in reaction to this event. She has been a member of Alpha Force on and off ever since, throughout many configurations of the team. She has taken a break a few times in the past to devote more of her time to governing her country: he spent almost the whole of the 80s governing Equestria rather than and only rejoined Alpha Force intermittently during the 90s for crises and crossover events. She has been back on the team on a long term basis since 2006, leaving the direct ruling of Equestria mainly to the younger Princess Cadance, and, more recently, Princess Twilight Sparkle, her personal protege with whom she frequently exchanges correspondence.

She is the bearer of the Sun Medallion, an extremely powerful magical artefact that looks basically the same as her cutie mark in canon, and also a powerful magic user.

YOU MAY HAVE HEARD OF THIS CHARACTER IF: You pay even the most cursory attention to anything to do with superheroes. Celestia has been a celebrity for decades. Your mother probably had an action figure of her. She probably saved your grandmother from a supervillain in the 1960s, and gave her advice on interpersonal relationships afterwards. If she did, she almost definitely remembers your grandmother's name. She is that kind of superhero.
YOU MAY KNOW THIS CHARACTER IF: You have been active as a superhero in any capacity in the last 50 years, excepting the 80s and 90s – Celestia has been involved in all manner of teamups and crossover events – or if you are working for CONDOR in a capacity that involves interaction with Alpha Force, or if she rescued you one time, or if you are a supervillain who has engaged her in the past, or if you are a subject of her magic friendship horse kingdom (does not necessitate being a horse)
PLANS & IDEAS FOR THIS CHARACTER: Celestia is pretty much just benevolence-ing along as the de facto leader of Alpha Force at the moment! She is a bit sad that nobody is stepping forward to JOIN THIS AWESOME TEAM, THOUGH!!! (app characters onto Alpha Force do it). She is probably going to participate in Jack's D&D campaign tho.

I would be all for that. He's seem exactly the kind of presence she needs right now. Especially once she starts returning to her regular ol self they seem like they'd be good friends :3

VANESSA GOLDPAW
Vanessa Goldpaw used to be a regular science genius human until a lab accident 10 years ago turned her into a sexy leopard. That's the official story, anyway – actually the accident gave her shapeshifting powers and the young scientist, a secret furry, hit on the idea of using her new abilities to take the physical form of her fursona and then tell everybody that she was stuck that way because of science. She has kept this charade up ever since. Nobody suspects a thing.

With the newfound confidence that came with having become a sexy leopard, along with the compensation money the R&D company she was working for at the time paid her for having been turned into a sexy leopard, she started her own science business, which over the last 10 years has become tremendously successful. Today Goldpaw Technologies is at the forefront of scientific innovation thanks to Vanessa's own science genius and the fact that being headed up by a leopard person makes for a really convenient marketing gimmick.

Vanessa divides her time between important science research, running her company, and lounging around. She is very friendly in person, and although she isn't exactly a philanthropist and doesn't go out of her way to ally herself with superhero business or CONDOR, she generally falls more on the 'good' side of comic book science.

YOU MAY HAVE HEARD OF THIS CHARACTER IF: She isn't quite as renowned as Celestia is but Vanessa is still quite a celebrity – think Tony Stark minus the superhero double life (also minus the alcohol problem, and plus a lot more fur). You might not have heard of her if you're not from around here, but it's likely. Being an actual furry sort of draws attention. Speaking of which she also has a noticeable but very Official & Impersonal presence in furry fandom (like posts pinup photos to her vastly popular furaffinity account but doesn't really interact with people, will make the odd appearance at a convention)
YOU MAY KNOW THIS CHARACTER IF: You're involved in the ABSURD COMIC BOOK SCIENCE scene! You work for her. You have interviewed her before, perhaps! She doesn't got time for a lot of socialising outside of her work though.
PLANS & IDEAS FOR THIS CHARACTER: Vanessa hasn't been very involved since game start but in the NEARISH FUTURE she is going to put into action her plan to form her own superhero team, partially for the sake of publicity and partially because she thinks it would be fun. If you have an unaffiliated superhero – of any age, power level or registration status – Vanessa is potentially up for having been stalking them to try to determine whether they'd be good hero team material.
BONUS ALTERNATE IDEA FOR SOMEONE TO BE INVOLVED IN THIS: some kind of in-company science experiment that has resulted in someone who works for her getting powers, OR, her getting someone (someones?) to test some kind of gadgetry or serum or something with the intent of their using it to do superhero stuff, YOU KNOW, THAT KIND OF THING, I would be definitely up for that if anybody's looking for that kind of background for a character

actually since Celestia took part in overturning the first invasion, Sufferer might actually come after her in specific because the Alpha Force is weak right now and Condy would like it to disappear forever.

HMM. Di might appear at the D&D campaigns. Probably at first just as a spectator, but I can see it being up her ally. Maybe we could get some CR with them through that?

KARKAT VANTAS/REAPHOOK
Karkat is a rude little Alternian guy who is on Earth as a political refugee because of his importance to the Sufferist movement, a religious revolutionary sect who follow the teachings of Karkat's ancestor, who he did not know about until these guys picked him up, after he got separated from the group of trolls with whom he was escaping Alternia, and brought him to Earth. He has been on Earth for about a year, and has been a trainee with the West Coast Trailblazers for most of that time because CONDOR didn't have anywhere better to put him than the Trailblazers base and he got sulky about the fact that everybody else got to fight stuff while he just kind of sat around doin fuck all. He is extremely invested in romance and extremely insecure about his blood colour, which is the same colour as human blood but non-standard for his species. His English is a bit wonky in places.

YOU MAY HAVE HEARD OF THIS CHARACTER IF: You pay a LOT of attention to the West Coast Trailblazers roster. He's only a trainee, so while the fact that he's a space alien makes him more conspicuous than the average super teen, he tends not to be present for, like, stuff the Trailblazers are involved in that actually makes the news – although he was the subject of that notable TRIDENT kidnapping that took place last week, so maybe you read about that. Even so, though, for the most part the only people who would know who he was off the top of their heads are the people who are actively posting to West Coast Trailblazers fan forums. He doesn't even have cool super powers.
ALTERNATIVELY, if you are a troll, you may have heard of him if you follow the teachings of the Sufferer, since he is the second coming of that guy. But you probably wouldn't know who he was at a glance because he wears sunglasses most of the time when he goes outside, to disguise his distinctive eye colour.
YOU MAY KNOW THIS CHARACTER IF: You're a member of the Trailblazers or you've actually interacted in them in any capacity, OR you were involved in his group's escape from Alternia, OR for people from space it is possible that he could have run into you in some capacity after his group got separated from each other.
PLANS & IDEAS FOR THIS CHARACTER: IM PRETTY MUCH UP FOR ANYTHING especially awkward crushes karkat gets awkward crushes so god damn easy

JON STARK/LONGCLAW

Jon is the son of prominent Chicago superhero Ned Stark, adopted under mysterious circumstances. He has been training to be a superhero since he was a kid and was on the Great Lakes Trailblazers from age 16 to a few months ago. He transferred to the West Coast Trailblazers for better crimefighting opportunities, with the stipulation that he go to school out there as well. He got deferred to UCLA, so he has to be flown in from Berkeley for the foreseeable future.

YOU MAY HAVE HEARD OF THIS CHARACTER IF: you are from Chicago, particularly the suburbs, you followed the Stark family saga from a nineteen or so years back, under which circumstances he was mysteriously adopted, you go to Berkeley or live in the Bay Area, where he has some acclaim for stopping a minor zombie outbreak during freshman orientation, you played high school hockey in Northern Illinois. alternatively, you might have seen him around on the Watch.

YOU MAY KNOW THIS CHARACTER IF: you are from Chicago, especially the North suburbs, you were on the Great Lakes Trailblazers, you are a freshman at Berkeley, you are a Stark or friend of the family, you go to the Stark's temple or country club, you are a CONDOR agent that flies a plane.

PLANS & IDEAS FOR THIS CHARACTER: um ideally someone to push his character the way Ygritte pushed him in canon, tho that would understandably be difficult because he is a sad teen incapable of romancing anybody. he's starting to come out of his shell with the Trailblazers but he kind of needs someone to challenge him. his take-charge tendencies with the trailblazers are only going to get worse, sorry guys. I'd also like to bring his dog to Trailblazers HQ somehow!!!

omg i think cynthia would LOVE miko. they probably don't know each other yet, as cynthia's still a trainee and has only ever been on one accidental mission (the sinkhole), but maybe they can meet at a later point?
