JM is not from the impoverished future but he is from rural Manitoba, which frankly has at least a COUPLE similarities to district twelve, ha. haha.

and he sort of. has worked with the trailblazers in a non-official-membership capacity, and possibly dated one of them for a while? depending on who his ex ends up being. so they might be passably familiar with each other, and can potentially bond over being in somewhat different living circumstances from what they're used to?
