MID-HIATUS MEME / TDM #?

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 01:34:43 GMT

Posted by: metabee

Downtown Los Angeles has been overrun! A horde of aggressive plant-life has attacked the city, threatening buildings, property, government officials, and the general well being of loyal citizens. The plants have appeared in all shapes and sizes, from more humanoid to less (basically whatever the heck you want. Go crazy.). Heroes around the city have been called in to help deal with the pandemonium.

What you do is up to you, but here are a few suggestions:

Heroes - Fight some plant monsters, evacuate some buildings, save the mayor. The world is your oyster.
Civilians - Do you want to be near the monsters? If no, run. If yes, maybe get those cameras ready, give your favorite caped crusaders a hand (or a hinderance)
Villains - Take advantage of the pandemonium to check some stuff of your evil to do list. Get some plant monsters to do your bidding. Laugh at some heroes.

This is a small meme thread to help get those Capital H gears turning. All characters are welcome, even if they aren't in the game. Consider this an unofficial Test Drive if you'd like. Action or networking logs are fair game, just be sure to make it clear in your starter.

Post here with your character's name and canon in the subject.

CATCHUP MEME

HEY GANG

A good few people have had stuff going on recently that has left them feeling out of the loop or not sure what’s going on – so we thought it would be a good idea to have a meme for clarifying what has been going on with our characters. Hopefully this will be a good way to get a look at what’s been going on with the rest of the game as well as to get a better handle on what your own characters have been doing by writing it up.

If you’re just plain lost, feel free to just say you’re not sure what your character’s been doing and invite other people to offer suggestions (involving their own characters or otherwise). You’re also encouraged to reply to other people’s characters with more general plot or CR suggestions.

TO PARTICIPATE, fill out the following for each of your characters:

And then reply to other people as necessary!

YET ANOTHER CR meme!

Shake off that dust y'all LETS DO SOME CR PLOTTING

You want CR? Pre-established CR? Future CR?

here is how to CR meme

STEP ONE: Reply to this post using the following:

CHARACTER NAME/ALIAS IF APPLICABLE BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF CHARACTER YOU MAY HAVE HEARD OF THIS CHARACTER IF: this is useful to know for this sort of setting – a lot of superheroes are inevitably sort of celebrities even if (as is the case for most of them) they're only known to the public by their codename. If your character is a superhero, indicate how well known they are; if they're not, indicate under what circumstances someone might be aware of them, even if it's just "they write very popular Drarry fan fiction on the internet that your character may have read" or something YOU MAY KNOW THIS CHARACTER IF: Like the above but under what circumstances a person might have actually spoken to them. PLANS & IDEAS FOR THIS CHARACTER: in terms of both plot things and any specific kinds of CR you'd be looking for, either in terms of established pre-game CR or CR that you'd like to unfold in the future. THINGS YOU'D PREFER TO AVOID: what it says on the tin! ANYTHING ELSE: anything else you think would be good to mention!

STEP TWO: Reply to other people to suggest CR, whether pre-established or planned for the future.

STEP THREE: Brainstorm! Discuss! Have fun!

This discussion post will not close! Newly accepted players are encouraged to reply to it, and people who are already in are encouraged to check back to it for new comments.

If you come up with something really good in this meme, or just in general discussion with other players, that contradicts an element of the backstory you wrote in your app, that's totally fine. Just let the mods know if the difference is a really big one that changes things significantly.

PLEASE NOTE: you can only use this meme once you've been accepted! This is because we don't want people to get invested in connections based on information that may not make it through the app process! Thanks!

TEST DRIVE MEME #2!!!!!

Wed, 01 Oct 2014 03:27:03 GMT

Posted by: roboromantic

Here's the deal, copied verbatim from the last post: if you've got a character you want to try out in this setting, make a thread with them on here, and if you don't, see if you can tag other people with your characters.

Test drive threads can be anything you like, in-person or online, just make it clear which one your thread is when you start it. Make sure to put the name of the character and what canon they're from in the subject, so people know who they are and where they come from.

Can I use test drive threads as samples for my app?
Indeed you may, fair stranger

Can I decide a test drive thread is game canon?
Heck yeah you can, provided the person you threaded it with is cool with that too!

GO FORTH AND DRIVE, MY FRIENDS.

FINALLY ALLOWING THIS COMM TO LIVE UP TO ITS USERNAME

OKAY SO FOR THOSE NOT FAMILIAR WITH HOW THIS WORKS, how it works is:

you post anonymous suggestions for XXX STEAMY SITUATIONS involving characters from the game (as specific or vague as you like – it can even just be a ship)

then you look at other people's prompts and write fanfiction (or draw art if that is how you roll) for any that catch your eye

DOES IT HAVE TO BE NSFW?
no that is not actually mandatory

I FEEL BAD ABOUT POSTING A BUNCH OF PROMPTS WITHOUT FILLING ANYTHING
do not feel bad, the more prompts the merrier, honestly for this kind of thing half the fun is just looking at the prompts

CAN I FILL MY OWN PROMPTS
yes u can bless ur heart

Questions Meme

Questions Meme!

A pretty simple meme made to break the ice, help expand on head canon, and keep discussions going.

1. Make a thread for yourself in this post, listing the characters you play and your own name.
2. Go find someone's thread to jump and ask them A QUESTION. The question can be anything, RP related is common, of course, but not necessary. Who do you want to app most? What does Character A think about Character B? What's your favorite flavor of icecream?
3. Answer all questions asked of you! Once you have answered, end your response with a question for the person who first questioned you. This is important to keep the discussion going and going.
4. This goes back and forth indefinitely until someone gets tired and can't reply anymore.
5. Have a lot of fun! ♥

FEEDBACK MEME

Sun, 06 Apr 2014 23:56:59 GMT

Posted by: capitalm

or HOW'S MY DRIVING, if you will

1. Reply to this post listing your characters
2. If you want, specify particular areas you would like feedback on! (it's okay to just be like GENERAL FEEDBACK PLEASE instead)
3. Indicate whether or not you're okay with anonymous feedback (it is totally okay not to be!)
4. Reply to other people telling them how you think they are doing
5. Hooray you have achieved HMD

We would much prefer to foster an environment where feedback is open, friendly and logged-in and nobody has to feel nervous about offering constructive criticism to other players, but we're okay with allowing the option for anonymous feedback as long as everybody is polite. If you've decided to reply to someone anonymously because you're nervous about this kind of thing that is okay, but do not take that as an invitation to be rude to people. If you have something negative to say about somebody else's playing, make your points politely and suggest ways to improve if you can. Hopefully this stuff all goes without saying because from what we have gathered so far all of our players are really cool fun friendly people! But it never hurts to make sure

Flagrant buttpats and flattery are 100% acceptable. Go wild

PRE GAME PLANNING POST: TEAMS, ORGANISATIONS, ETC

Fri, 24 Jan 2014 19:49:19 GMT

Posted by: capitalm

This post is for discussing/establishing/working out details of specific teams, groups, organisations etc. with your fellow players. Use this post to -

clarify how long your character has been a part of an organisation and what rank they have or what role they play there,
suggest things about the way the group operates,
ask questions about specifics of mod run teams,
just generally throw out ideas!

You can suggest ideas and stuff for a group even if your character isn't involved in it.

We are going to make threads below for mod-created groups, but feel free to add your own for companies, teams, etc. that you think other people might like to be involved in.

Also, don't forget to check back on the CR MEME to check for new people to shove your character/s at!

TEST DRIVE MEME #0

Tue, 14 Jan 2014 03:35:43 GMT

Posted by: capitalm

A TIME VORTEX has opened in downtown LA! Some magic folks have been contacted to close it, but they haven't gotten here fast enough for the vortex not to spill out a HECK TON OF DINOSAURS – all kinds of dinosaurs of all kinds of sizes. There are theoretically gentle herbivores among the fierce predators, but they are all pretty pissed off about their sudden, startling relocation, and a lot of them have spikes.

(The vortex is both temporally and spatially unstable, which is why the dinosaurs emerging onto the streets of LA are constrained neither by specific prehistorical era nor geographical location.)

What you do is up to you. Here are some suggestions, though:

Fight some dinosaurs. You might be trying to herd them back to the vortex, or just trying to stop them by any means possible.

Flee or hide. If you're lucky the dinosaurs won't work out how to open doors and you can spend your entire thread hiding behind the bar in a Starbucks with some other hapless civilians without having to confront any of them.

Try to capture the dinosaurs on camera. If you can get some really good photos you might be able to sell them to the local paper in order to supplement your elderly aunt's meagre income. Or just use them to get a bunch of notes on Tumblr, either way.

Take advantage of the chaos to do crime. The forces of law enforcement are preoccupied with all these prehistoric reptiles.

Or pretty much anything else you think your character might be doing. Any location in LA is game, although there's no real need to meticulously look them up – you can just assume a generic street, rooftop, store, etc. (You don't have to look up the dinosaurs, either.)

If you have a character who you'd like to assume is part of a team, but that team hasn't been named or brainstormed OOC yet or anything, feel free to indicate in your opening post that you're assuming your character is operating alongside others and encourage others to tag in as if they are part of the same team! Or just handwave it and assume they got caught without their usual teammates or separated from them. Whatever way works best for you.

Events from this test drive are not automatically assumed game canon, but individual threads can be if you and the people who you thread with end up mutually wanting to keep them.

PRE-APPLICATION DISCUSSION POST!

Thu, 09 Jan 2014 00:29:47 GMT

Posted by: capitalm

Hey guys! I had some requests for a discussion post where people can shoot the shit about potential backstory and power ideas, so here it is!

For best results, make sure to check out the FAQ and other setting information for inspiration, such as superhero registration and power levels, as well as taking at peek at the game wiki to see what's already been started!

POST RULES:

Feel free to discuss any facet of the setting you like, and how they relate to your character ideas!

Please keep in mind though, that nothing can be set in stone until the related apps are accepted. Try to not rely completely on everything on this board being apped successfully.

If you would like to know whether something sounds good to the mods, just flag us down by giving a shout in the subject line or by pinging us on plurk! We'll hit you up as soon as we can.

Have fun!
