Kara “Starbuck” Thrace
Quick rundown of her canon since in this instance she went thru all of it: People make robots, robots do not like people, there is a war and then a truce, it’s forty years later and now the robots are sexy teens, robots blow everything up, humans are like, “ : ( “

Starbuck’s spent her entire life in the military, most notably as a pilot. After the destruction of the 12 Colonies (the planets that held all of humanity), she’s one of the few military personnel left, and the Best Pilot. Things happen, she dies, she gets better, and now strange Powers that Be (think Green Lantern style Guardians, but snappier dressers) have decided to drop her off in the here-and-now. She works for CONDOR, because it’s the closest she can get to home, and she thinks college basketball is way better than pro ball, though both pale in comparison to the Sports she played back in the day.

Short version: cocky, sometimes abrasive, often surprisingly upbeat in the face of terrible odds, was born 100,000 years ago. She’s been in LA for six months now, and still thinks the fact that cards on Earth are rectangles is weird.

YOU MAY HAVE HEARD OF THIS CHARACTER IF: You work with or for CONDOR, potentially if you’re a Trailblazer, you fly jets, you are into conspiracy theories about ancient astronauts and DNA and shit.

YOU MAY KNOW THIS CHARACTER IF: You do stuff for CONDOR on the less flashy more blow-shit-up side of things. Is that a side CONDOR has? If you unflashily blow things up, and also if you can fly a plane. She is also sometimes talkative on the internet, but not generally in places where the public has full access. I sort of want to have Starbuck be one of the people who goes and checks on the Trailblazers once in a while to make sure they’re playing nice, because a. it is hilarious 2 me b. she, in the past, worked as a flight instructor, and I think it would be kind of cool to explore that some more.

PLANS & IDEAS FOR THIS CHARACTER: I started flailing my hands a little when I saw how many robots/cyborgs/AIs were in the game so far, because I would really like to get her into some CR with some Mechanical Friends. I don’t plan on Starbuck being as immediately hostile towards anybody robot-y as she is at the beginning of her canon (I mean, she does marry a robot and stuff I guess technically? cylons.) But still, she’s got a certain amount of healthy (“healthy” in heavy air quotes) paranoia about AIs and transhumanism and giving robots guns. I really want to do Character Arc things with Starbuck where she, again, is struggling with her ~destiny~, and why she was put in this time and place specifically, as well as her trying to move on from the life she used to have.

THINGS YOU'D PREFER TO AVOID: The Rom Ants. Starbuck’s husband died six months ago (or 100,000 years ago), and she’s got a pretty shitty romantic history, so I want to steer away from that, at least for now.

ANYTHING ELSE: She is a Sports, and not a very good poet.

I could totally see Starbuck as one of the CONDOR agents assigned to keep tabs on Metabee, especially if she is cynical of AIs, if that's something you would be interested in. Especially if she is a Trailblazer liaison.

Yes! That would be cool. And it makes so much sense that CONDOR would have someone who was really suspicious of AIs keep eyes on an AI.

Oh man, I read the Capital H wiki page on Metabee, and this is the exact sort of situation she would be insistent about monitoring.

Stuntman Billy Sullivan stars as the "Speed Cop" in the motion picture of the same name. The picture begins as Sullivan gives a ticket to motorist Rose Blossom, who happens to be the daughter of a judge. Though she could very well "break" our hero, Blossom falls in love with him instead. Actually, I was wondering -- is that how Jon gets from Berkeley to LA all the time? Does he have to catch a ride form someone? That's not the shortest drive.

jon's sports are mostly adventure but also hockey tho he knows many other sport from before he started high school and had to Get Serious about hockey. he will tell her about the cubs and how they are better than the other teams tho they have not won a world series for over 100 years

and lmao yes I figured I could handwave some kind of team plane/helicopter/helicarrier/hovercar if nobody apped a anybody who could actually arrange for one

Oh man, Starbuck is in my head primarily a Basketball (because it's the sport I am a Sport for) but dang she would dig hockey. Maybe she sometimes pilots him back and forth, and is at first sort of upset about it (because it's a pretty traffic cop grunt work sort of job) but they Bond over full contact sports.

no basketball is ok bc the starks are from the chicago area and it is every chicagoan's dream to tell a time traveller about Michael Jordan and Chicago Basketball

once they have Bonded he will get his dad to send over their vhs recordings of like the 96-97 championship games

oh no oh no oh no i just read the app for baelheit because I'm unfamiliar with his canon, and “ambiguously villainous scientist-cum-politician" sounds exactly like gaius baltar. her initial reaction might just be "i think i slept with a guy like this once."

His whole “I know about this thing that happened to humanity a really long time ago, also i have A Destiny” in some ways lines up with Starbuck herself?? Man actually he would be really interesting for Starbuck to interact with, he and Milly both.

Starbuck, after the initial "jfc another fucking cyborg" stuff wore off, would probably empathize at least a little w/ Milly, on "daughter of sort of shitty parent whose career choice indelibly shaped her own life" grounds.

YES... yes to all of this omg. (necessary caveat that I still have not managed to finish watching BSG all the way through so my canon knowledge is not 100% BUT) Baelheit is actually a lot like Gaius in a lot of ways, although he is way less of a hilarious tool when it comes to interacting with people, but there are definitely some parallels. I think he and Starbuck could definitely have some interesting interactions, for sure.

Milly also has a lot of complicated feelings about being a cyborg which I think would make it easier for Starbuck to empathize with her (she definitely did not ask for this and it makes her feel like she's less human for it, sometimes), and also Starbuck is the sort of person that Milly would probably look up to??

yes wow I would love to throw both of them at Starbuck omg. She and Baelheit will likely clash a hell of a lot which is pretty much what I'm looking to do with him OuO
